Experts on Knowledge Society Domains for African Leadership in ICT (ALICT) Program – Open Call for expression of Interest

GESCI, the Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GeSCI) provides demand driven assistance to developing countries seeking to harness the potential of ICTs to increase access, relevance, quality and effectiveness of their education systems.  This Call for Expressions of Interest is launched to establish a list of experts to support activities in connection with the ALICT Program (2010-2013). ALICT is a Program implemented in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and other African partners. The ALICT program is based on the African Regional Action Plan for Knowledge Economy (ARAPKE) and is designed to intensify its activities. The ALICT program presents a feasibility action program for modeling a methodology and multi-stakeholder approach for capacity building and awareness raising of African Leaders on the pillars of the Knowledge Society; ICT, Education, Science & Technology and Innovations in support of the AUC Action Plan and the EU-AU P8. For additional information please refer to ALICT webpage
The ALICT program would like to develop a roster of experts in the pillars of knowledge society in preparation for upcoming research and capacity building projects, as well as potential consultancies and support to programme activities, both remote and in selected African countries.  The pillars are:
  • Leadership and the Knowledge Society
  • Science & Technology and Leadership in the Knowledge Society
  • Innovation & Leadership in the Knowledge Society
  • Educational Change & Leadership in the Knowledge Society
  • ICT and Leadership in the Knowledge Society
GESCI would like to invite individual consultants and consortiums of consultants with demonstrated leadership capacity building experience and expertise in one or more of the thematic areas of the Knowledge Society to submit their information. Experience in working in developing countries, particularly in Africa, would be an asset.
Interested consultants should submit a cover letter, Curriculum Vitae that include related projects undertaken (maximum 3 pages), language proficiency and references electronically by June 8th 2011 to margaret.nyambura@gesci.org with reference "open call for expression of interest –ALICIT capacity building program."
Consultants who comply with the eligibility and selection criteria will be put in a database. Each time there is a need for experts for a given task, GESCI will choose from the database, candidates who comply with the criteria and whose profile and skills correspond to the tasks required. The selected experts may be invited to supply a proposal.  Please note that sending the information does not guarantee participation in upcoming projects.  All information received will remain confidential.
