Desired Skills :
• Install and configure oracle 10g,11g RAC with ASM.
• Troubleshooting RAC general and performance issues.
• Configuring and maintaining physical and logical standby database in OLTP environment.
• Maintaining the replica of the production database in order to minimize the downtime of the system in case of any planned or unplanned outage.
• Providing solution for high availability, load sharing, data protection and disaster recovery for critical enterprise data.
• Database Tuning that includes instance tuning, IO tuning, SQL tuning, reorganization of database, maintaining and rebuilding indexes, reorganization of tablespaces as and when required, analyzing tables and indexes in regular intervals for best execution plans.
• Migration of database from one version to another using either oracle migration utility or performing the task manually.
• Migration of database from one platform to another using either exports / imports utility or copying database between instances or both which includes RMAN.
• Establishing and maintaining foolproof backup strategies and procedures. Performing hot, cold and export backups.
• Maintaining high database availability for supporting non-stop, highly critical business operations.
• Recovering the database without or minimal loss of data in case of failures.
• Evaluating the backup & recovery procedures on a test bed to minimize the loss in real time scenario.
• Implement and maintain database security that includes making sure that all Critical Patch Updates (CPU) released by Oracle are implemented on time, identification and setting ownership of all database users.
• Describe password management policies for users
• Monitoring the database growth on daily basis, addition of tablespaces, datafiles and modification of existing datafiles.
• Forecasting database growth which inclused capacity planning.
• Creating shell scripts and PLSQL scripts to automate the day-to-day & complex time consuming repeataive tasks such as Refresh of the database,scheduling RMAN backups, analysis, space monitoring, resource consumption,mview refresh etc.
• One of the major task is to continuously monitor the database for top queries, wait events, bottlenecks etc to proactively determine the prospective points of contentions.
• Providing support to end users and developers, which involves troubleshooting of user problems and doubts.
• Educating users about the best way to use the resources in hands and helping them in creating and launching mission critical applications.
