Job Summary :
As a Sustaining Engineer you provide technical support for released products through product end of life. Specific areas of focus will be in diagnosing, reproducing, and fixing software and hardware issues. You will troubleshoot protocols running on NetApp hardware to assist customer with problem isolation and resolution. To be successful in this role, you must be a motivated self-starter and self-learner; possess strong customer service and technical problem solving skills; and be someone who embraces challenges.
Essential Functions :
• Resolve Warranty, Enterprise Account (NetApp's highest priority customers) and SupportEdge Premium account (customers with a higher level of support agreement) customer issues via the telephone and/or off-line analysis.
• Research customer issues in a timely manner and follow up directly with the customer with recommendations and action plans.
• Escalate cases to more senior Sustaining Engineers and/or Escalation Engineers when the customer problem is too complex or falls into their specific area of expertise.
• Leverage internal technical expertise, including higher-level engineers, knowledge base, and other internal tools, to add to knowledge base in order to provide the best solutions to customer issues.
• Create new knowledgebase articles to capture new learnings for reuse throughout the center.
• Participate in technical communication meetings to learn about new technologies and complimentary storage applications.
• Begin to focus on an area of technical specialization and attend classes, complete lab projects, read and work with other Sustaining Engineers on cases which will help cultivate that expertise.
• Assist other Sustaining Engineers working on customer cases within your area of expertise.

Job Requirements :
• Experience building management products using UI frameworks.
• Clear understanding of server-side technologies like Spring, Web Service APIs, REST, etc.,
• Flexible building graphical user interfaces as well as back-end Server components.
• Strong grasp of software design patterns and effective development methodologies.
• Developing VMWare plugins and/or experience with developing storage management applications is highly desired.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards.
• Experience in software design and development.
• Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
• A strong understanding of basic to complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.
• Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices.
• Creative approach to problem solving.
Education & Experience :
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field; or 1 or more years of relevant experience is required.
