Whenever a user types in a query or browses through product categories on the web site, phone or the iPad, our service goes to work. We mine structured and semi-structured data from product catalogs, social web, transactions, query logs, etc. at an unprecedented scale. We work on big data problems, cutting edge relevance algorithms from information retrieval, machine learning, and ranking to deliver a high-availability, low-latency service, which directly impacts business metrics. The Opportunity : • Help invent the next generation of e-commerce; integrated experiences that leverage the store, the web and mobile, with social identity being the glue • Work with a world-class team of engineers and scientists to advance our semantic-based social genome technology and next-generation search and categorization engine • Apply your strong expertise in machine-learning, data mining, and information retrieval to design, prototype, and build the next-generation of @WalmartLabs semantic-based engines and services • Plug into and extract insight from massive social and commerce firehoses of data – the Twitter firehose, Walmart's transaction firehoses and many more, delivering billions of real-time updates per day • Be challenged to create and update semantic graphs and taxonomies using semi-structured and unstructured data, as well as develop new and innovative applications to be built upon them • Build next-generation search and natural language interfaces that apply semantic technology to match user intent and interests with products • Learn that this is not just a classic algorithms position!
