Position Summary:
• The suitable candidate will be responsible to carry out the installation, configuration, and support of a rapidly growing VMWare based Virtual Infrastructure estate and support the growing estate of SQL and Active Directory Infrastructure.
• Second level management and support of Virtual Infrastructure components Active Directory Installation and support skills
• Installation of new ESX clusters and supporting management systems
• Installing and configuring SQL Server on VMWare
• Full spectrum of SQL Server support duties
• Installation and configuration of HP Chassis & Blades
Essential Responsibilities :
• Provide a sound level of technical competence to deliver capabilities to technical policies, standards and within timescales.
• Contribute to the reduction of incidents for DCMS Platforms and provide proactive problem management in order to maintain high service levels.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of operating procedures and operability on new and existing systems, ensuring adherence to defined Operations Standards.
• Adhere to the release process to ensure products/services are delivered in a supportable manner and to defined standards of quality and software compliance.
• Provide detailed implementation/project plans across multiple work streams according to agreed standards. Attention should be given to communicate any risks or issues using the appropriate escalation procedures
• Produce, deliver and maintain appropriate documentation for systems in accordance with Technical Operations document control standards and procedures. Also provide input to records, quality systems and management reports as required.
• Adhere to change management procedures in defining, planning and implementing change in such a way that service disruption is minimised, and adherence to Service Level Agreements is ensured.
• Provide input to Technical Recovery plans, and to take part in technical recovery for major incidents within your defined area.
• Work and cooperate with internal and external groups when required in order to fully support environments and maintain service.
• To ensure correct referral and escalation of issues
• Ability to manage own work and multitask to meet tight deadlines without losing sight of priorities
• Work out of hours when appropriate to support major implementations or to react to high priority service issues.

Required Skills :
• Total of 1-2 years of supporting large IT infrastructure (500+ servers)
• Windows server administration (MCSE)
• VCP - ESX server (Troubleshooting, Virtual machine creation, cloning and configuration, command line ESX, resource pools)
• VCluster configuration , Virtual Centre usage
• P2V techniques and tools
• SAN storage, VMFS knowledge
• Networking, VLAN
• Snapshots
• SQL Server 2008 and Active Directory workings
• Performance Analysis and Tuning/Optimisation Operations
• Experience in installing and configuring SQL Server on VMware
• Working knowledge of SQL Server clustering on Windows 2003 R2
• Log shipping and different types of DRP plans
• Database Maintenance Plans and scheduling jobs
• Capture schema changes
• In depth knowledge of TSQL (Stored Procedures, Triggers and functions)
• Table partitions
• Performance tuning of large databases
• Experience in Security management, auditing and user access control on the databases
Preferred Skills :
• ITIL Knowledge
• Knowledge of vFoglight and CiRBA
• Experience of Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
• Experience in setting up SSRS (requirement gathering, including development and deployment of reports)
• Experience in Version Control and documentation tools for Version control
• Worked in a global support environment and interaction with US and European customers
• Knowledge of SUSE 11
• Experience of SM7 or similar
• ITIL Foundation certification is a plus. MCSE - Windows Server/SQL Server
