Archer Media is looking for a talented PHP developer with deep experience with WordPress to join our growing team and company, and build out some extremely interesting projects.
This is not a designer or theme developer position.
Key Responsibilities: - Maintain existing WordPress website.
- Work with the content team to implement new features.
- Develop new WordPress features and plugins.
- Work with creative design team to turn designs into a working reality.
- Troubleshoot PHP and WordPress issues.
- Assist with front-end development (XHTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Implement upgrades to the WordPress core and related plugins.
- Develop interactive front-end features using XHTML, CSS, Jquery and Ajax.
- XML parsing and XSL stylesheet.
- Create customize web services by combining 3rd party xml feeds.
- Keep abreast of WordPress enhancements and updates and make recommendations on how they can be used to improve the site.
Experience/Skills: - Expertise in developing, debugging, and performance tuning WordPress including plugins, themes and core.
- 4+ years professional PHP4/5 experience.
- 3 to 4+ years WordPress development experience.
- Experience working with WordPress as a CMS.
- Deep understanding of the WordPress core, theming, best practices, plugins and APIs.
- Understanding of WordPress custom content types and taxonomies.
- Excellent CSS, Javascript + jQuery, and cross platform xHTML skills.
- Working knowledge of MySQL, building Object Orientated Web Applications, and optimizations.
- Experience working with 3rd party APIs (Facebook, Twitter, shopping engines, etc)
- Experience in resolving cross-browser compatibility issues.
- Experience working with the LAMP stack.
- Familiar working in a collaborative development environment, SVN/Git, Trac/Redmine.
Preferred Attributes: - Experienced in developing complete solutions, from beginning to end, in PHP and MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of Unix or Linux is a plus
- A quick learner who can make the right decisions in solving common web development issues.
- Enthusiastic about web and other internet technologies.
- Self-starter who can adapt quickly in a fast changing startup environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Have a desire to innovate
