Auto req ID 20439BR Job Posting Title: Engineer, Staff I - Software Development Business Unit Mobile and Wireless Group Job Description Broadcom is developing solutions supporting the next generation of 3G and 4G high-speed mobile technologies. As part of its Android Mobile Platform, Broadcom offers a family of HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access), WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple-Access), EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) baseband processors for use in cellular handsets, PC cards and other wireless-enabled consumer electronics. In this role you will be part of the Linux power management team working on implementing linux power management drivers and kernel modules as well implementing various linux power management framework adaptations to Broadcom Baseband SoC . You will work on understanding the various power management blocks and hooks on the baseband SoC and how to implement in the most efficient manner. The ideal candidate will have good embedded system fundamentals , good programming skills in C and good exposure to linux kernel/driver development for ARM based platforms. This role involves : 1 Understanding the ASIC IP block in detail including programming interfaces 2 Design/develop/test the linux drivers for the various IP blocks 3 Understand the various Baseband ASIC power management mechanisms/blocks 4 Implement support for various linux power management frameworks http://www.ChetanaS.org Job Requirements • Educational qualification: B.E./B. Tech. with specialization in E&C/CS/IT/EE ( MCA also considered) • Strong C programming skills • Strong OS fundamentals preferably embedded linux • Prior experience in open source contributions especially to kernel.org is a plus • Prior experience to ARM architecture is a plus • Good oral and written communication skills • Most importantly, a good team player Country India State/Province India Cities City/Town Bangalore Shift 1st Shift - Day Percent of Travel Required 5% - 10% Function Engineering Discipline Software Development http://www.ChetanaS.org ..................................................
