Given that the business objectives of the EE team are inherently aligned with those of the regional BGs, and the learning solutions are highly customized to meet needs, this role is sponsored by the members of the IDC SLT, recognizing the short term value to the engineering teams and the long term value to the region and the individual. Specifically, we are looking for a strong performer with a proven track record who has a long term interest in the success of the IDC center.
As the discipline leader for the Dev and Test disciplines for India, you will be working with members of the IDC SLT and with engineering leaders in the region and in Redmond to develop and drive programs that help growing the engineering community in India Development Center (Hyderabad and Bangalore) with particular focus on the SDE and SDET communities. You will be part of the EE International team and work with the Learning and Development team based in Redmond to develop and deliver a compelling set of performance improvement solutions to close identified gaps in the development capability of the IDC teams. You will also partner with fellow leaders of IDC HR in delivering onboarding program for college and industry hires in India.

Specific activities include:
- Partnering with IDC engineering leaders and HR/POC to support business direction and the strategic plans for engineering teams and offer relevant learning solutions
- Participate in the analysis and gap-identification for IDC engineering teams and driving both local planning and awareness and planning for IDC sites in EE Global L&D planning
- Manage program delivery in IDC
- Support regional Dev and Test Leadership Teams driving local initiatives
- Support EE strategic initiatives, customized to the regional needs. This includes one or more of the following
- Support the transition to Services through presentations, intact team training, and consulting engagement
- Evangelizing Scenario Focused Engineering: leadership pre-meetings, intact team trainings, leadership post mortems, custom consulting throughout the project cycle following training delivery
- Facilitate the adoption of the RAPID program to accelerate engineering processes
- Develop and drive large scale onboarding programs (LEAP for college hires, Industry hires and Interns), in collaboration with the BGs
- Delivering SDE and SDET learning solutions; develop and customize learning solutions for the specific needs in IDC and for global use, including foundation training, ongoing technical training and advanced topics for experience engineers
- Supporting programs to develop Senior and Principal engineers in the region
- Fostering a vibrant Engineering Community through meet-ups
- Mentoring ICs and managers in region
- Drive community activities and events like the Engineering forums in IDC overall, and the Garage initiative
- Support the IDC Innovation Awards selection process for IDC
To qualify for this position you must have a history of successfully shipping multiple products and services at Microsoft in either the Dev or Test disciplines; Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive for results, with focus on customer needs; A passion for improving people, processes, and tools; Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and present technical information; ability to manage and coach ICs and managers at Microsoft; and the ability to influence management through presentations, written and interpersonal communication. You should have a broad awareness of Microsoft and industry development practices and technologies. Regional travel is required, as well as periodic travel to Redmond.
