Kendriya Vidyalayas do Andhra proud. HYDERABAD: It was celebrations all the way for Kendriya Vidyalayas in the state on Monday. Kedriya Vidyalaya, AP Region is now ranked the second best in the country, as the schools have produced one of the best results in CBSE, Class XII examinations-2011. The first place was bagged by KV Sanghatan of Chennai region. Students from KVs in the city fared well in the examination with many scoring over 90 per cent marks, while 15 out of the 35 KVs offering higher secondary education recorded 100 per cent results. Ramya Kusuma Pillutla (KV Picket) secured the highest marks among KV students of science stream in the state with 95.4 per cent. K Srikanya of KV Begumpet secured the highest mark in commerce stream with 95.2 per cent and in humanities stream, Unnati Devi Meena secured the top marks with 76 per cent. In financial marketing and management stream, M Supriya secured state top rank with 93.8 per cent. The pass percentage of KVs this year was 95.8 per cent, 2.3 per cent higher than the previous year. The pass percentage of KVs in 2008, 2009 and 2010 were 92.58, 92.65 and 93.5 respectively. This year most of the KVs secured 93 to 100 pass percentage. Officials of KV 2, Golconda where students scored good marks said that 2011 result was the best ever in the past 25 years. "Even the below average students from the school scored over 60 per cent this year. Some students have scored over 90 per cent marks," said A Jyothi Kumar, principal, KV 2, Golconda. Two students from the school, Ambrish Pandey and Tanvi Butalia scored over 90.2 and 90 per cent respectively in science stream. Another Kendriya Vidyalaya which fared well with 100 per cent results was K V Trimulgherry. A student of the school, Rohit Bharadwaj from the commerce stream scored 100 per cent marks in Accountancy. "It is almost impossible to score a 100 per cent in CBSE. But if Rohit could get such a score we hope that in the future too the school will be able to produce good results," said T A Babu, principal of the school. Bharadwaj scored 90.6 per cent in the examination. According to KV Sangathan officials, the performance of students had improved this year primarily because the school authorities had given extra attention to weak students. "The progress of students is monitored strictly. Remedial measures to improve the performance of weak students are taken up in the form of special classes and extra personal care," said S Selvaraj, assistant commissioner, K V Sangathan. Several KVs including KV Dundigal ( Air Force Academy), KV Gachibowli, Bowenpally, KV Ghatkesar, KV Yedumailaram, KV Golconda and KV Picket have scored 100 per cent pass this CBSE.
