Not just three, there are more errors in Eamcet-2011: Experts.

HYDERABAD: Eamcet-2011 question papers could have more errors than those declared by the expert committee of JNTU.

Experts in the city detected six errors in the medical question paper, other than the three declared by the test's managing committee. The Eamcet committee released the keys for both engineering and medical question papers on May 25.

According to medical entrance coaching experts, questions 42, 49, 56, 58, 60 and 69 in code A are ambiguous and hence should be deleted. They said that the questions in the medical stream of the entrance test carried translation errors and even conceptual errors.

Experts said that Telugu translation for question 49 carried a glaring conceptual error and in question 42, the correct answer does not figure among the four options given (the question cannot be solved as per the Intermediate syllabus prescribed by the Eamcet committee). Question 56 had a grammatical error that could confuse students and question 58 carried a conceptual error, coaching centre officials said.

"Questions which have translation errors are deleted traditionally as students from both English and Telugu medium sections should get an opportunity to score well in the examination. But this year, JNTU officials have not deleted such questions," said Jaganmohan Rao, BPC (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) expert, Narayana Group of colleges. Average performing students might lose out on medicine ranks if errors are not checked, officials said.

As the number of medical seats in the state is just about 5,000, every error in the question paper could affect a student's career, experts said. About 65,315 students appeared for the medical stream (BPC) examination this year.

The experts said that they have already petitioned P Jayaprakash Rao, chairman, APSCHE requesting him to delete the questions. Even M V Ramana Rao, convener, Eamcet-2011 was intimated. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) has put up the keys on its official website for stake holders to give suggestions.

The Eamcet committee has already admitted to one error in the Zoology section (No 71). The question had two correct answers.

Experts said that every year medical stream questions have errors. "We had petitioned the state council several times regarding recurring errors but there has been no change in the system," said Rao.

Eamcet convener, Ramana Rao stated that the subject experts would look into the errors pointed out by different stake holders and finalise a key. The final key will released along with the results before June 2.
