Mechanical Design Engineer Requisition ID: 00215722 Description UOP develops and licenses process technology for the refining and petrochemical industries. We are currently seeking an experienced heat transfer engineer. The role of the Heat Transfer engineer in Engineering is to work as a member of the team on the preparation of UOP's Schedule A, the basic design package, in support of the licensing of UOP technology that provide customized technology design packages to our customers. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in the design and application of both fired heaters and heat exchangers as applied to the process industry. Candidates with a background in only fired heaters or only heat exchangers will also be considered. The successful candidate will join a group of skill specialists who support a wide range of engineering, development, and field support activities for UOP's customers throughout the world. Job Description Summary: Prepare Engineering Design Specifications for Heat Exchangers and Air Coolers in new unit designs. Apply knowledge of exchanger types and application in refinery / petrochemical processes. >Review of Manufacturer Drawings for Fired Heaters and some specialised heat exchangers for compliance with UOP specifications. Apply a working knowledge of heater and heat exchange industry guidelines (API, TEMA). Apply a working knowledge of fired heater, heat exchanger, and air cooler thermal design software programs (HTRI, FRNC-5, various UOP proprietary programs) Give technical support to UOP consulting services by giving advice on heat transfer issues, liaising with continuing services engineers and by conducting heater assessments onsite. Unique Aspects of Job (Travel, Overseas, Overtime, Work hours, etc.) Close contact with customers, Fired Heater, Burner and Heat Exchanger vendors. Close coordination with other engineering disciplines, particularly process/project engineers. >Light (< 10 %) travel worldwide http://www.ChetanaS.org Qualifications - Minimum Job Requirements (Degree, equivalent years of experience etc.) - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chemical is also acceptable). - Between 1 to 4 yrs relevant experience in heat transfer as applied in the refinery and/or petrochemical industries. - Conversant with refinery and petrochemical process considerations as they relate to fired heaters and heat exchangers. - Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills - The preferred candidate should be from a reputed university, with an attitude to learn process technologies.
